By decorating the field with items, you can increase the rating of each area. Some Paleo's will not live in the area (invitations cannot be sent) unless their rating is above a certain level.
A tutorial on basic field decoration is given during the story.
Environmental objects such as trees and stones that cannot be destroyed by tools
Environmental objects that are present from the beginning and cannot be destroyed with tools can be cleared or moved from the field decoration mode.
For example, in the Woodbury Forest, there are places that can only be reached by going around in a large circle with the default layout, but you can create a shortcut by moving or clearing away trees in decoration mode.
If these objects are cleared away too much, the environmental rating will decrease and the regional rate will also decrease.
However, since there is a large amount of nature placed in the field from the beginning except for the Starfall Meadow, a little tidying up will not affect the rating.
Re-arrangement of Paleo's houses
Each resident's house can also be relocated from the map's decoration mode.
Press the X button to close the decoration object selection box at the bottom of the screen, then move the cursor to the inhabitant's house and press A to move it to the desired location. However, it can only be placed within the area corresponding to that character.
Houses can be built directly on top of fallen items, existing environmental objects such as the unbreakable trees and rocks mentioned above, or on top of objects you have placed yourself.
Decoration objects that overlap with the house are taken into the decoration inventory.
You cannot build on top of stumps, rocks, and other objects that can be broken to obtain items. The cells with such objects will be marked in red.
Therefore, you need to go to the map and break them once.
Stumps and rocks etc. that you destroy will be restored in the next day or a few days, so if there are material objects in the place where you want to build a house, you should build it on the same day you destroy them.
Paths
In the Switch version, it seems that you cannot draw a road, probably due to a glitch. When a road is selected, a cursor appears to select the start and end points of the road, but nothing is laid down even after the decision is made.
