As the game goes on and the number of items you can craft becomes greater, you need new and more materials than ever before to do so.

Some materials can only be obtained by being upgraded, and the higher the rank of a tool, the more materials can be obtained per use.

Upgrading as soon as possible will make the strategy easier. (Although there are some tool upgrade quests that require a friendship level of 5 with character to start, so it will take some time... How to upgrade your friendship level will be explained in a later post).

In this post, I will explain how to upgrade each tool.

Axe

The axe can be upgraded by completing Nellie's quest line. Some of Nelly's quests are related to those of her brother, Atlas, and are contingent on completing his quests.

  • Good axe, stumps can be broken.

Nellie's 1st quest (building her house in the main story)

  • Great Axe

Nellie's second quest (after building the house of Atlas)

  • Master Axe

Pickaxe

Pickaxe can be upgraded in Chester's quest line. Chester is met in the main storyline, but it is at Mt. Morrisong that you can build his house.

  • Good pickaxe. It will allow you to break large rocks.

Chester's 1st quest (building a house)

  • Great Pickaxe

Chester's second quest (after unlocking Shell Creek)

  • Master Pickel

Chester's third quest (after completing the second quest)

Scythe

Scythe can be strengthened in Flint's quest line. Flint can be found on the mountain after liberating Mt. Morrisong.

  • Good Scythe. It will allow you to harvest large bushes, wheat, and other vegetables.

Flint's 1st quest (building a house)

  • Great Scythe

Flint's second quest (friendship level 3)

  • Master Scythe

Flint's third quest (friendship level 5)

Shovel

Shovel can be enhanced by the Barnaby's quest line, up to the second quest.

  • Good shovel. Large fill can be broken.
  • great shovel
The first quest in Barnaby's (Build a house. Then go to the museum and you can strengthen it to a fine shovel, and then to a great shovel after you complete the item delivery).
  • Master Shovel
Barnaby's second quest (after donating three items to the museum)
